A History of SunSouth Bank

A History of Pride and Achievement

SunSouth Bank established its early roots in the soil of rural Alabama as The Peoples Bank, Clio, Alabama. First opening in 1954, The Peoples Bank began as a small family owned bank serving the financial needs of the farmers and merchants of the community.

To enhance growth, the charter was moved to Dothan, Alabama in 2002 and the name was changed to SunSouth Bank. A landmark home on Jamestown Boulevard was restored at a premier location adjacent to the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.

Continued growth of the Bank created the need for additional space to accommodate the expanding operating functions. Consequently, a new SunSouth Bank Corporate building was built at the corner of West Main Street and Jamestown Boulevard. With our offices in Dothan and Clio, SunSouth Bank is proud to offer an ever increasing variety of services featuring the latest technology backed by warm personal service for which we are justly proud.
